ETL Developer- Durham, NC – Permanent

Description – this position is 60% ETL, 20% reporting and 15% back office database work

The primary focus of this position requires expertise in integrating distributed systems and applications built on vendor implemented software platforms, both in-house and in a hosted environment. The Application Developer will be responsible for integrating and maintaining the organization’s applications, typically multi-tier, which rely upon relational database technologies and web interfaces incorporating financial processes and workflows. Position requires participation in data acquisition and transformation delivery and my provide oversight and technical checkpoints to enforce standards and quality of BI solutions. Sound judgment, self-motivation and an aptitude to embrace a variety of technologies with a passion for servicing internal customers who serve external, high value clients is required.

Primary Responsibilities
• Complete development assignments related to data movement, data quality, data cleansing and other ETL-related activities, employing technical best practices
• Define problems, collect data, establish facts and determine root cause to remediate production support issues
• Create technical specifications and develop code to ensure that the end to end solutions meet the business and data requirements
• Provide technical knowledge of Extract/Transform/Load (ETL) solutions for BI projects
• Lead Unit and Integration Testing activities and assist in User Acceptance Testing as needed
• Create and maintain documentation using tools such as Visio, MS Word, Excel, etc. that can be utilized for support and cross training efforts related to production support and new and/or existing applications
• Evaluate application components, including RDBMS, ETL software, scheduling software, business intelligence tools and database design solutions to support the company’s strategic plan related to technology
• Ensure application components (hardware, software, licensing) remain current, reliable/highly available, scalable and compliant
• Effectively assist in the estimation of work products for accurate resource forecasting
• Deliver work products as approved and prioritized by the Project Management Office
• Create executable implementation plans for projects
• Collaborate, partner and mentor appropriately with all team members
Job Requirements :
• College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science, information systems, or computer engineering plus 5 years relevant work experience, or 10+ years equivalent work experience (financial industry preferred)
• RDBMS expertise including stored procedures, security, administration and best practices
• In-depth knowledge of ETL software to enable data integration across the enterprise (Pervasive preferred)
• Real world technical experience developing and supporting RDMBS environments (SQL Server preferred)
• Ability to develop complex reports from disparate data sources using tools such as SSRS; expertise in Visual Studio, SSMS and Toad for Oracle
• Application development experience and working technical knowledge of current application development software, protocols, and standards including .NET Framework (C#, VB.NET), HTML/JavaScript
• Strong written and oral communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
• Hands-on experience with business requirements gathering/analysis
• Excellent analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to prioritize and execute tasks on time
• Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
Additional Qualifications
• Familiarity with network, PC, and platform operating systems
• Familiarity with core banking systems
• Familiarity with workflow software to support the company intranet, credit processes, CRM and CMS needs (SharePoint and SalesForce experience a plus)
• Working knowledge of SharePoint Site Structures, Administration and Concepts
• Commitment to understanding and supporting the organization’s goals and objectives
• Familiarity with applicable data privacy practices and laws
