SUMMARY: This is a unique opportunity for an individual with prior experience seeking new challenges and broad database responsibility. The Database Administrator will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising all activities related to the integration of software programs, business applications, data sources, and some of the data retrieval systems into the organization’s information systems.
RESPONSIBILITIES: • Responsible for the design and implementation of multi-dimensional database models, data warehousing, and data transformations • Understands all data sources required for the organization’s core business • Ensures the cost-effective management of all data sources (including inventories) and data feeds to and from the organization • Administers all corporate databases, including ERP databases • Responsible for the 24x7x365 availability of mission-critical data • Responsible for the effective integration with other data streams • Ensures the integrity, availability, security, and performance of all corporate data, including traditional DBA responsibilities • Maintain and support the organization’s business intelligence application • Maintain and monitor database backups and rotating archives of backup files • Production database disaster recovery • Responsible for the strategic design and implementation of data warehouses, marts, and stores, while ensuring high levels of data availability • Defines data standards and models for warehouse architectures • Manages the creation and management of sound data management process • Standardizes data naming, establishes consistent data definitions, and monitors overall data quality • Some travel required
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES: • Strong familiarity with the SQL language • Familiarity with MDX queries • SharePoint Administration • MS Performance Point Administration • Excel pivot tables • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Strong organizational skills • Shows attention to detail • Ability to work independently, and in a team • Demonstrated knowledge of Finance and Accounting Principles • Ability to analyze business issues when forming requirements for a project • Familiarity with Windows Server Administration • Remain current in technology as appropriate to this position through training and web resources
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE: • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field preferred • Three plus years in database administration required • Experience with MS SQL Server 2005/2008 required • Experience with MS IIS preferred • Experience with MS SharePoint preferred • Experience writing DTS or SSIS packages • Experience writing SSAS cubes • Experience supporting users (i.e., help desk, field support) is also a plus
